Brogna Wool, a precious wool that was once endangered

Brogna Wool, a precious wool that was once endangered

Brogna Wool

There are many sheep breeds in the world, and the most common wool is nothing more than Merino wool, but in fact, each region has its own local unique sheep breed, and the characteristics and texture of the fiber are also very distinctive.

I have always had a soft spot for the unique yarn produced by local sheep breeds in various places, which is also one of the important indicators of my line selection.

Lanivendole's main yarn is a blend of Brogna wool and Italian alpaca, which must be familiar to everyone, but I was curious about what Brogna was sacred.
Looking up the Google god, it is surprising that Brogna is not only an authentic Italian sheep breed, but it almost disappeared from the earth decades ago.

The glorious history of Brogna wool can be traced back to the Middle Ages, this kind of wool is famous for the exquisite production of Verona Woolen, its fine, soft and tough fibers, can spin finer wool than other common local wool fibers, and even once expedition to Northern Europe, rivaling English wool, but with the later increase in the demand for silk market, gradually replacing wool fiber, by the 1980s Brogna was almost on the verge of extinction, fortunately, Some local residents have re-realized the value and importance of Brogna, and thanks to their efforts 💪, Brogna has been gradually reburied, and we have the opportunity to learn about this unique wool.

When I first got Lanivendole's wire, it was really amazing, it felt fluffy and fluffy and soft, perfectly combining the characteristics of Brogna wool and alpaca wool, there is a stormy blend series of the original coat color, and there is also a chic blend series hand-dyed by the owner, which is very suitable for fair isle weaving, single-strand, double-stranded, and even with hairy sea weaving, it is quite excellent.

Take a look at the beautiful creations that many designers have created with Lanivendole cables:

German designer Isabell Kramer's Gianluca cleverly uses these two wires, the earthy color of the main body, with the fair isle/colorwork of the lower jumping color, low-key with a little lively atmosphere, and the smallest size only needs to use 5 strands, which is quite wire-saving!
